Edmonds community college housing application

No. Though our building is created with Edmonds College students as the primary residents, our building is open to all full-time enrolled college students wanting a college housing experience who meet our rental criteria. Contact the leasing office for more details and questions about eligibility.

I receive financial aid. Can I use it to pay for part/all of my housing fees?

Financial Aid will pay for tuition first, and any left over funds will be applied towards housing. You may be able to direct funds from Financial Aid to cover housing costs first, but will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

I’m an international student. Can I still live on campus?

Yes! We require that all International students meet the credit requirement outlined in our Rental Criteria and will still need to process an application for each applicant. We do not discriminate based on nationality.

I’m under 17 years old. Can I live on campus? Does a parent need to sign the housing agreement with me?

Students must be at least 16 years old at time of move-in to be eligible to live on campus. If a student is 16 or 17 years old at time of the agreement being signed, they will be required to sign with a guarantor (parent or guardian).

Do I have to find my own roommates?

We’ll help you find them! After you apply you will be sent a roommate survey that will help our staff determine whom to place you with.

Can I choose to live with people I know instead of being placed with new roommates?

On the roommate survey, there is an option to provide the names of other applicants that you want to live with. Please note that they must request you as well in order for you to be assigned to a room/unit together.

Is it possible that I might be placed with a roommate of a different gender?

Yes, it is possible. You will have the opportunity to designate on your roommate survey whether you would prefer to live with someone identifying as the same gender or someone identifying as a differing gender (we call this a gender-inclusive unit) and we will do our best to accommodate your request. However, we want to encourage residents to branch out of their comfort zone and find friends throughout the building. Choose a setting that will be most comfortable and enriching for you. Please be aware that though apartments may be gender specific, each floor will be mixed gender.

Are there any vaccination requirements to live at Rainier Place?

Some vaccines are highly recommended but not required, please see our guidelines here for more details on vaccinations.

LEASING

Can I schedule a tour of the new residence hall?

Our building is not currently conducting in person tours. We encourage you to check out the virtual tour online for a glimpse into what life in one of our units will look like!

How do I apply?

Simple! Just click the “Apply” button on the website, read through the rental criteria and fill out your information accordingly. You will need to select your unit type by preference and then submit your application which will go straight to our Leasing Team. We offer leases based on the number of quarters you plan to attend school. You can sign up for a 1-quarter, 2-quarter, 3-quarter, or 4-quarter leases. Every student has the option to renew their lease, and choose the length that works best for them.

Leases shorter than 4-quarters have an additional monthly charge. If there is a waitlist to live at Rainier Place, preference will be given to students with longer lease terms. We want to cultivate an enriching experience for students, and part of that mission is to foster strong friendships within the building.

I submitted an application! What do I do now?

It will take a few days for the application to be verified. In the meantime, our staff will be in touch with you to fill out the Roommate Survey that you will need to complete prior to the housing agreement being signed.

Do I sign a housing agreement with all of my roommates?

Once we match you with your roommates, you each will be sent individual agreements to sign electronically. Everyone will be responsible for care of the shared common area spaces, but as far as rental payments – you will only need to worry about your own.

What is the application fee/deposits I need to pay when I apply?

There is a $275 application fee charged when you submit your application online. A $200 refundable security deposit is due upon arrival. A $200 Non-Refundable Fee is charged when housing agreements are signed as well as a $25/quarter Activity Fee. These payments are due by the end of orientation week.

What is the “Activity Fee”?

Each student living on campus pays an activity fee of $25/quarter up-front before move in which covers the cost for resident events and activities coordinated by the Residential Life team.

What if my plans change and I want to defer my application to a different quarter for move in?

Please contact our Leasing Team to let us know. We can defer your application to a later quarter and you will not need to reapply at that time.

What if my plans change and I need to cancel my application?

We’re sorry to hear it! Please let the Leasing Team know and we will cancel your application for you. Cancellations are not eligible for a refund of the $275 application fee. If you change your mind and decide to live at Rainier Place again, you do not need to reapply – just let us know and we can reinstate your application! Keep in mind the same unit assignment may not be available depending on availability.
